Chris' Most Anticipated Movies of 2013

The Boss man told me to compile a list of my top most anticipated films of 2013 (YES!), it’s probably not what you’re expecting but it’s MY list so your opinions are irrelevant, but please.......Feel free to comment :D.

So without any further ado, in no particular order:

Elysium
Synopsis: Set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

Honestly, aside from the synopsis, I have no idea what this movie entails. I’m getting a Twelve Monkeys mixed with Bourne identity type of vibe. With Mat Damon playing the lead I’m sure he’ll be channeling a little bit of Jason Bourne, if anything for the fight scenes. I’m a huge fan of Twelve Monkeys’ script and the fight scenes from the Bourne movies so it had to go on the list.
(US release date: 9th August 2013)
(UK release date: 20th September 2013)

Now You See Me
Synopsis: FBI agents track a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money.

Its pretty simple really, imagine if Houdini got in on the whole Robin Hood act. They’re Robbing from the rich, giving to the poor and all that other goody two-shoes type jizz. The cast is what sold it for me, mixing the old (Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine) with the new (Jesse, Eseinberg, Isla Fisher) should make for some good screen time. Jesse Eseinberg will forever be remembered as ‘the guy that played Mark Zuckerberg’ (who is similar in many ways to a lot of characters he portraits on film), so I’m itching to see how good his Derren Brown Impersonation is.
(US release date: 7th June 2013)
(UK release date: 21st June 2013)

Anchorman: The Legend Continues
Synopsis: The continuing on-set adventures of San Diego's top rated newsman

“Stay Classy San Diego!” (nuff said)
(US & UK release date: 20th December 2013)

Grown Ups 2
Synopsis: The all-star comedy cast from Grown Ups returns (with some exciting new additions) for more summertime laughs. Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.

With the likes of Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg it’d be hard to find a better comedic ensemble. The first had one laugh out loud moment after the next (along with some great quotes) so I’m pretty sure as long as they don’t do something radically different that we’re in for pretty much the same kind of ride, a good thing in this case.
(US release date: 9th August 2013)
(UK release date: 20th September 2013)

Monsters University
Synopsis: A look at the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at the University of Fear -- when they weren't necessarily the best of friends.

It’s about damn time! With Monsters, Inc being one of Pixar’s flagship films I’m surprised it took them over 10 years to make a sequel (more specifically prequel). Along with Toy Story, Monsters, Inc was one of the few animated movies at the time that both adults and children could appreciate. There are a bunch of animated movies now that do the same but Monsters, Inc raised the bar by setting the standard that they have to adhere to and for that, it will not only go down as a classic but also a pioneer as far as animated feature length films go. I just hope The Incredibles 2 is right around the corner.
(US release date: 21st June 2013)
(UK release date: 12th July 2013)

Also-Rans: Evil Dead (saving this one for a review), 47 Ronin, Only God Forgives, Mad Max: Fury Road , Sin City: A Dame to Kill for
